YOUR MIND

Image
The Most Powerful Tool in Your Classroom Isn't on Your Desk It's midterm season. The corridors are louder than usual. Lesson plans are stacked. And somewhere between marking books and managing a classroom of thirty and more different personalities, you may have forgotten something important, something no timetable reminds you of. You. Specifically, your mind . Neuroscience has long confirmed what educators quietly know to be true: the brain is not a fixed organ. It is plastic, adaptable, and deeply responsive to how we think about ourselves. A 2007 study by psychologist Carol Dweck showed that students whose teachers operated from a growth mindset showed measurably greater academic progress, not because of what was taught, but because of the belief system behind the teaching. Let that settle for a moment. Your greatest tool isn't your curriculum. It isn't even your experience. It is the way you think. Every morning you walk into a classroom, your mindset wal...

It's Resumption Time

Image
Dear Teacher, ‎ ‎It was resumption morning. ‎Uniform ready. Bag packed. Heart doing gymnastics. ‎Excitement danced in one corner of her chest, while confusion quietly tied a knot in her belly. Joy and “what-is-this-term-going-to-look-like?” holding hands. She laughed at herself and whispered, “Ah… so it has begun.” ‎ ‎Then she paused. ‎She remembered something important. ‎She didn’t need to solve the entire term before 8 a.m. ‎She didn’t need to carry tomorrow, next week, or the exam timetable on her shoulders. ‎ ‎So she breathed. ‎“Don’t overthink,” she told herself. ‎“Be anxious for nothing,” she repeated. ‎“Just take charge of today.” ‎Because grace doesn’t arrive in bulk, it comes daily. Enough for the lesson, the children, the questions, the surprises, and even the mistakes. ‎ ‎She smiled, straightened her shoulders, and stepped out not with all the answers, but with peace for the day. ‎ ‎So dear Teacher, if your heart is racing and...

Who are you without the Label?

Image
Dear Teacher, ‎Ms Nike once forgot her ID card at home.  No Miss, no Sir, no “Good morning, ma.” Just her standing at the gate, slightly confused, slightly amused. ‎For a moment, she wondered, “Who am I without this badge?” ‎Because identity isn’t a title you wear around your neck. ‎It’s the quiet sum of your choices, boundaries, convictions, beliefs, and inner drive. It’s your yeses, your no’s, and the things you refuse to compromise even when no one is watching. ‎ ‎So let’s play a small thought game. ‎When the bell stops ringing… ‎When the classroom is empty… ‎When no one is clapping, praising, or validating you… ‎Who are you then? ‎Not the label. ‎Not the role. ‎Not the applause. ‎Just you. ‎ ‎That’s the version worth meeting, nurturing, and becoming deeply familiar with. Because teaching is powerful but knowing who you are without the title?   That’s transformative. ‎ So today, gently take off the label… ‎And find you. ‎Rooting wi...

TEACHSPIRATION

Image
Dear Teacher, Look at you… you made it to 2026. Before the term begins, the bell rings, or the stress taps you on the shoulder, let’s pause for a second. Just a few truths you can withdraw anytime no ATM required. That life you daydream about between lesson notes and staff meetings? It’s not a fantasy. It’s reachable. But here’s the catch: It only grows in proportion to what you’ve invested in your mind, heart, health, and soul. Teaching on autopilot won’t get you there. Just surviving won’t either. So first things first, kindly but firmly evict survival mode. It has overstayed its welcome. You were not called to merely endure the days; you were built to grow, to lead, to live well while teaching well. Think about it. Decide differently. Act intentionally. 2026 is listening. Rooting with you, MsJay

A Teachers' Impact

Words are indeed powerful, and they can either break, attack you, or build you. If you've watched a movie titled RECITATION ( A Mount Zion movie).  This is the script of my life journey as a student or should l say a copy story of me. Pardon me l didn't mention my name before continuing with our conversation. I am Adeyemi Anita, the little girl with potential and some people don't believe in her still.  Anyway let me take you back to the movie, because for me it's awakening my testimony as a student. Imagine what if that kind of teacher that impacted my life greatly was not in the school. This movie tells us that words are powerful! Testimony is a great child; despite his challenge, God still makes him a living testimony. The movie awakens my testimony. It reminds me of when l was in JSS2.  There's a particular teacher who taught Economics and Agricultural science than in my secondary school days. She doesn't like my personality and says lot of negative words ab...
