Who are you without the Label?
Dear Teacher,
Ms Nike once forgot her ID card at home. No Miss, no Sir, no “Good morning, ma.” Just her standing at the gate, slightly confused, slightly amused.
For a moment, she wondered, “Who am I without this badge?”
Because identity isn’t a title you wear around your neck.
It’s the quiet sum of your choices, boundaries, convictions, beliefs, and inner drive. It’s your yeses, your no’s, and the things you refuse to compromise even when no one is watching.
So let’s play a small thought game.
When the bell stops ringing…
When the classroom is empty…
When no one is clapping, praising, or validating you…
Who are you then?
Not the label.
Not the role.
Not the applause.
Just you.
That’s the version worth meeting, nurturing, and becoming deeply familiar with. Because teaching is powerful but knowing who you are without the title? That’s transformative.
So today, gently take off the label…
And find you.
Rooting with you,
MsJay
